Out of all of the rooms in a school, the gym is the one that has the most wear and tear. Gyms are rarely used for just physical activities anymore – all different types of functions take place in gyms. This is why it is so important to put together a plan for gym floor care.
The best way to plan for how to care for your gym floor is to know why types of damage they are prone to. Concentrated traffic is one of the main reasons a gym floor gets damaged. Think about a basketball game – the majority of activity (stopping, starting, jumping) is concentrated to just a small area – much more so then the perimeters or under bleacher areas.
Tips for putting together a great gym floor care plan:
#1:Gym floor maintenance starts as soon as someone walks in the door. By adding entrance matting, you eliminate a great deal of the soils that could potentially be tracked onto the floors.
#2: You then need to create a dust mop routine – removing the dry soil regularly can reduce the potential of them becoming ground into the floor. This also helps extend the life a floor and keep it looking good.
#3: Spot cleaning during events also plays a strong roll in maintaining clean floors – particularly during sporting events (ie. liquie spills)
#4: One of the most important things you can do for a floor is to properly seal and coat it
All of these things combine will help extend the life of your gym floor, and protect it so that it lasts! Need help setting up your Gym Floor Plan? Contact a specialist at Pike Systems at 630.896.6373

This new standard could affect as many as 2,000 soap products (excludes Purell which is alcohol based)
